About Dr. Martin Ortner

Dr. Martin Ortner spent his kindergarten and elementary school years in his home town of Bad Kleinkirchheim. He then attended 4 classes at the Bundesrealgymnasium in Spittal an der Drau. Even back then he was very interested in science. He then moved to Italy and attended the international school “Liceo Europeo Uccellis” in Udine for 2 years. 2003 followed 2 years of high school with graduation in Florida. After completing military service, he began his studies at the Medical University in Graz. Meanwhile, he worked actively in various hospitals in Carinthia, Styria and Italy as part of student exchanges. He also gained practical experience in distant countries such as Nepal and Brazil.

After completing his studies in 2014, he worked as a resident doctor at the Spittal/Drau hospital and as a surgical assistant at the Zug cantonal hospital in Switzerland. In 2016, further positions followed in the private clinic in Villach and in the paediatric department of the Regional Hospital in Klagenfurt, before he graduated as a General practitioner in 2018. He then worked as an assistant doctor in the neurological department of the private clinic in Villach. In 2017 he began the 5-year training course to become a certified osteopath, and he received his diploma as an Emergency doctor in 2019. In the same year, he also began training for the “Neural therapy” medical association diploma. And additionally, he also works as a doctor in blood donation. The first enthusiasm for science in high school gave way to his interest in surgery before he specialised in neurology and got the chance to have his own practice in his parents’ hotel.

In his free time, Dr. Ortner likes to play tennis or race down the Flow Country Trail on his mountain bike. In winter, he exchanges this sports equipment for skis, which he uses to move around in the Nockberge mountains. But his greatest passion is probably his little daughter Valeria, with whom he spends as much time as possible.
